A patch to fix this was uploaded under bug #729499 on 2011-03-04. A
patched package is available in my ppa, tests ok in Maverick; I haven't
upgrade to Natty yet.
I wouldn't hold your breath for an official fix though. If I remember

I can confirm this bug in Hardy today.
I thought it might be just that the tray icon had non-transparent
backgrounds filled in, but I checked both the .png and .xpm files in
Inkscape; they correctly have transparent pixels. Something deeper
isn't right. Does the OP have any pointers to the patche

published for many applets during previous release cycles. I know i
shouldn't confirm my own bugs, is there anyone here using gstm too ??
