Well, I have none of that text output in #1066347 since I'm using the
GUI installer, but I saw this message today while reinstalling 14.04
today. I guess it's not a duplicate, since that one was allegedly

Happend with Ubuntu 12.04.2 i386 desktop install CD. I installed Ubuntu
on ext3 partition without reformating. I have only /home folder on this
partition with my personal data. Partitioning was manual.

Happened with the Xubuntu 12.04.1 amd64 install CD from a USB stick on
an Asus X301A. Did not format partitions (we are on vacation and need to
preserve data) but moved previous Ubuntu install into a subdirectory
before doing a fresh install. Tried running apport-collect 1040599, but

@Colin - it would really help if you were to report ubiquity bugs using
'ubuntu-bug ubiquity' as this will gathered detailed information about
the installation. Could you run 'apport-collect 1040599' from the
installed system? Thanks in advance!

I have reinstalled, this time ticking "format" in the partition options,
performing for once an actual "fresh" install -- the problem has not
came back, so therefore I am no longer affected by this issue.
The issue either has as a source:
1) a bug in the daily build;
2) Colin forgetting (like me)
The bizarre thing is, I don't remember having ticked "download updates"
either, just that upon partitioning, some warning reflected that the
partition was not marked as formatted, or something. I am wondering if
the install really has been a fresh one?

I do not think this has to do with third-party software, as I just had
this error (alpha-3 quantal) without having ticked so.

I suspect this may have been a failure to download the flash player or
associated files as I had ticked the "Install this third-party software"
option at the "Preparing to install Ubuntu" screen.
