I've had freeze ups for a while now and I seem to remember it occurring
after a kernel upgrade a while back. Would generally have to reboot and
sometimes boot from a live install CD to fix disk errors. The recent
upgrade to Lucid kernel 3.0.0-19 seems to have remedied my situation.

I see the same problem on a fresh 12.04 install on a Dell E6410 with a
SSD.
Installation impossible.

Thanks, I hadn't marked it as Invalid as I'm still investigating. In my
opinion we have to keep an eye on this issue, maybe it is a combination
of hardware failure with bad reaction of the Linux kernel. Surprisingly
I left the system running for a while and suddenly "dmesg" stopped
reporting the er

comment regarding this being due to hardware failure. For future
reference you can manage the status of your own bugs by clicking on the
current status in the yellow line and then choosing a new status in the
revealed drop down
In this case it may be a hardware problem after all, I ran the
Diagnostics that Dell provides at boot up, and it is reporting a Hard
Disk error. So I will investigate further but mark as Invalid for the
time being.
