I see the same output pattern if I use the --cols or --columns option to
ps.
For example,
$ n=0; m=81; for ((c=${n}; c<=${m} ; c++)) ; do echo ${c}: $( ps aux --cols
${c} 2> /dev/null | grep ^gdm | grep 22693 ) ; done
$ n=0; m=81; for ((c=${n}; c<=${m} ; c++)) ; do echo ${c}: $( ps aux --columns
