not working and for the browsing issue. The fact that the problem is
solved by reverting back to the older bluez package speaks for itself.

This is a bluez bug, I can't believe it is still not fixed. All I had to
do is to revert back to an older bluez

Raymond's fix did not work for me. What worked was commenting the sections in
/usr/share/pulseaudio/alsa-mixer/paths/analog-output.conf and
/usr/share/pulseaudio/alsa-mixer/paths/analog-output-headphones.conf:

I have just thought of a simple solution that could make the problem of
not automatically launching Empathy less bad, based on my own behaviour
and expectations.
I suggest that MeMenu could launch Empathy if the user click on "Online"
or "Away", or any state other than "Offline". This way, on stan

user point of view there should be no difference in behaviour between
the Gwibber+gwibber-service (which starts automatically) combination and
Empathy+telepathy. I mean that for a user both apps will display

Here is my amixer output. My current situation is that gnome-recorder
and pavumeter can see the internal microphone but not pulseaudio (and
Skype).

Have you tried the latest Chrome version ? Since I upgraded Chrome, I still
experienced the issue with the Flash configuration dialog but that's all.

I think we should focus here on the lack of GUI for disabling the GDM sound
(system ready). The Gnome login sound is more easily disabled even if it
would be worth opening a bug about the problem with Empathy's notifications

Well maybe on AWN, but with the small icons of the Netbook Remix setup
taskbar, I can only see a colored square. I am currently using the
"Conversation Badger" plugin which replace the buddy avatar by its status
icon (green circle for available etc). It's not very good for the Netbook
Remix taskbar

I dist-upgraded to Intrepid from Hardy. Boot would hang immediately
after the usplash progress bar stopped 'bouncing' and started counting
up. Removing 'splash' from kernel options allowed boot to complete;
installing v86d fixed the problem altogether.
This is with the nvidia driver, if that means
I can't duplicate this in Intrepid after recreating the situation that
exposed the original problem. Since we don't have any reports of this
post-Hardy, I think we can safely assume that the problem has been fixed
by the move to GIO/GVFS. I'm marking this 'Fixed Released'.

Since I upgraded to Ubuntu 8.10 beta, my printers are not recognized
anymore by crossover, can it be the same issue ? I have some cups

Yes, this is still a minor issue (years later!)
When a new PPP link starts up and USEPEERDNS is set, the script /etc/ppp
/ip-up.d/usepeerdns replaces all of the nameservers in
/etc/resolv.conf.
If you're accessing a PPTP VPN with a private DNS server, name
resolution is broken as soon as the

I actually got rid of that issue by removing every extension I had
installed but deactivated. So it must be an extension problem although I
can't remember the ones I removed :-s.
It's still a bug for as all extension are checked on startup, maybe one
passed through.
