[regression] Built-in mic not working after puls

I tried all combinations of raising lower 1 channel but I get nothing
from my built in mic or a plugged in mic.
Furthermore when I plug in a USB camera with built in mic. I now see
the level changing with noise level, but it records nothing.
This is unbelievable for like 2 years and n
is anyone going to fix this. And I mean fix.. Not work around. And
blacklisting is not fixing.
Also i am hacked off at the number of solved tags when someone makes a
workaround. So you loose 3rd gear in your car.. SOLVED move from 2nd to
4th. N! Not solved just a work around.

I second Bart Verwilst on the request for fix info...
I was hoping for a fix in the updates but sadly not. What is slightly
annoying about Ubuntu generally is that when a bug is found and verified
there is no real way to know when it will get fixed.
On the plus point it seems some video issues

I've been quietly watching for that last month and I am (still) as
confused as hell over this.
I have:
(hd0) /dev/sda
(hd1) /dev/sdb
(hd2) /dev/sdc
sda is windows 2k and another partition of data
sdb has loads of partions
sdb1 is 9-10 Karmic
sdb2 NTFS data
sdb3 NTFS data
sdb4 to
Ok I found the issue:
The logon screen defaults to US English for every additional user.
Just need to change that one time.
However as the global setting at software install was UK English it
should remain so for all users unless specifically requested within that
users settings

This works fine for me... the installer. I have a 2nd system user (my
wife) and her keyboard always has US English layout.
I tried swapping in her System > Preferences > Keyboard but bot
