Same here with an Asus Eeepc 1000. Turning off visual effects prevents
the crash, but then the resolution on the external monitor is fixed at
640x480 with no way to adjust. In this mode it is unusable. The comp
can recognize the native resolution of the external monitor, but will
not let me run it
