makes fonts too small. If I enlarge page I must pull to right. It is so
boring. The font looks small especially in notebook. This will do harm
to my neck.

I can confirm this bug on certain ftp servers. But not all - most work
fine.
All ftp servers did work before the update and still are working from
other ftp clients (with same connection parameters).

No, what Ralph meant is "split" is the past perfect form. There is no
"splitted" in spelling... I guess this meant this, instead of
separating support and main packages. BTW, wishlist... a typo...

i managed to install ubuntu 8.04 and figured out it runs fine after i
removed all packages related compiz.
may i suggest to remove this package from live cd environement and
default install cuz it causes the system unstable. it doesn't provide
obvious benefits.

that's been fixed in an upgrade you can hit ctl-alt-F1 to go into a

i am having a similar issue. i couldn't install or login through the
normal gnome session unless using failsafe session. but the same time,
kubuntu 7.10 is runing flawlessly. here is my setup:
