Looks like that fixed it. When the computer is shut down, the lights on the USB mouse turn off, as does the backlight on the USB keyboard. The keyboard's NumLock light remains lit, but I can't say for sure if it didn't always do this, because I didn't have this keyboard when the issue began. **
