After installing two kernel updates (10.4 Netbook), on ASUS 1001pxd, I
have lost the internal microphone and the ability to use my external

I tried to get a mic working by connecting a USB headset to the
computer. The computer froze up. When I leave the headset connected to
the computer during restart, the computer would not boot up. I have not
seen any problems with any other USB devices (memory stick, hard drive,
etc.) which I use
