Hi,
Actually I was not affected by the crash bug described by Keith Packard;
But I am affected by a bug in Xephyr:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=24144
which was already fixed in upstream version 1.6.5, but Karmic still uses
1.6.4.
Thanks,
Vic

Public bug reported:
xorg-server 1.6.5 was released this week with only two MAJOR bugs fixed.
I highly recommended to upgrade to 1.6.5.
I am the submitter of Xephyr bug #24144 in x.org. This bug annoyed me a
lot and get fixed in both 1.6.5 and 1.7.0. And there's another very
important fix to a dr
I confirm this bug, it's happened to me a couple of times now, but
usually times out in around 2-3 mins. In the meantime I usually login
via another terminal and use links to browse around :)
It's an incredibly annoying issue!

Hey Aurélien,
So yes, that was it, I had to restart both I guess, just rebooted and
we're good to go!
So to summarize for anyone else who joined in late:
v...@host:~$ cat /etc/network/interfaces
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback
auto eth0
iface eth0 inet dhcp
v...@host:~$ cat /etc/NetworkManager/
Hello, Aurélien's solution did not work for me either, after making the
necessary changes to both the interface and the nm-system-settings.conf
files I got this
v...@rebuffat:~$ sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart
sudo: unable to resolve host rebuffat

Michael: Not sure if it's MSCHAPv2's problem, but according to aviv, the
wireless router also plays an important role here. aviv's test result
is, if the wireless router is changed to support TKIP or AES O.N.L.Y,
then rt2860sta 1.8.0.0 + NM 0.7 works. My guess is if the wireless
router only support
Bryan: I don't think that's a wpasupplicant problem, because the driver
1.8.0.0 works with WICD, and manual wpa supplicant configuration, and
even NM 0.6 in Hardy and Debian Lenny. The problem is that NM 0.7 is TOO
SMART, and it just assume that all kernel drivers are also as smart as
it is. NM 0.7
Did anyone try the ra2860 driver 1.8.0.0 with the new network-manager
0.7.1? It was out just a few days ago and it "Plays better with stupid
wifi and ethernet drivers", according to Dan's blog. Hopefully ra2860
1.8.0.0 is one of the stupid ones :)

Hi!
Well, I don't think I was doing anything with USB when it crashed, if I
remember correctly. Anyway, it happened only once so far and might have
already been fixed in Qt4 or KDE libs, which have been updated recently (and
there was a large update this morning as well). I will keep watching.
