Looks like a regression on the graphical glitches side of this bug as
8.04 x64 does not have glitches/artifacts in the GUI, however 8.04 does
lock hard starting a new game in Armagetron. I will see if I can
download 8.10 x64 to see if the bug is present there.

Ububtu Jaunty and Karmic 64Bit. Radeon 9500 and Radeon 9800SE. Major
graphical glitches mostly on fonts on desktop and applications. OpenGL
apps eg Armagetron freeze whole system only a hard power off/on

I have the exact same thing happening with my Radeon 9500 Pro. Was fine
in 8.10 (and Windows) but in 9.04 and 9.10 beta it displays the graphic
glitches/artifacts. It also crashes fairly regularly when dragging
Icons. I have tried the xorg-edgers xserver-xorg-ati and the problem is
still there.
The new one (1.0.0-rc2) pauses but does not resume playback. You have
to restart vlc and the stream after a pause. The video is stuck paused
until vlc is restarted.
