I do observe the same problem. It's so annoying.
But for my part, after few days, my x session just crash (looks like the Killed
signal). Which oftenly implies lost of work.
I also observe that running and killing many times Skype application raise the
number of misc very fast.
KDE version used

I've been experiencing troubles with my workaround, and had to edit
manually my /var/lib/dpkg/status to ensure the previous version is
accepted stealthy.

I'm having my production chain blocked due to this problem.
I've tested a Omnikey CardMan 5321 which is totally unusable. The reader
accept the smartcard but no data can be exchanged with it pcscd seems
stalled.

Ok, I've just tested the latest upstream kernel onto ubuntu 10.04.3 lts
and the bug is not present, the problem is definitely within ubuntu
11.10 but not in the kernel.

Well, this is no problem for me, but I'm dubious about the real link
between my bug and the kernel. Shouldn't I firstly try the upstream
kernel with 10.04 to ensure the problem is linked with the kernel ?

I have the same problem, with a laptop asus a6bg16 (realtek 8139 (8139too
module)), bug in Dapper 6.06 LTS but not in Breezy.
