@Sambit Kumar, no still didn't find a solution (other than installing
Windows over Ubuntu just to be able to update the BIOS, and then
reinstall Ubuntu...way too troublesome and time consuming).
I wish Lenovo could provide a way to update the Bios from Linux.

I updated my IdeaPad-5-15ARE05 to 5.7.10 (https://kernel.ubuntu.com

at all.
The brightness buttons change the value in this file:
"/sys/class/backlight/ideapad/brightness" (from 1 to 21) but not

Thanks @Simon!
For information, I installed 5.7 from mainline

Hey @Simon, I also installed 5.7 from mainline
(https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v5.7/) but Brightness
still not working for me.
I notice that adjusting the brightness using the keys or the mouse will
change the number from 1 to 21 in this file: cat
/sys/class/backlight/ideapad/brigh
Also, did anyone opened an issue related to the brightness controls?
Impossible to adjust the brightness

OK ! I removed the PPA, uninstalled/reinstalled sogou_pinyin_1 as seen

I just have a small black rectangle on the screen, but it works !

Thank you for your feedback.
I added the daily-build PPA because my LUBUNTU is 14.04 and the nightly
PPA has no version of FCITX for 14.04.
I will post on sogou forum then, thanks for the advice.

Public bug reported:
After installing FCITX from PPA-daily-build, installing SOGOU 32bits
(from sogou for linux website) and launching FCITX, I have this OUTPUT
in the terminal, and impossible to select SOGOU PINYIN :
gumeiren@gumeiren-N128:~$ fcitx-qimpanel
gumeiren@gumeiren-N128:~$ MainControll
This was my favorite gesture control, and a huge gain in productivity.
It makes no sense to remove it...

I really don't understand this decision. When having a powerful
touchpad, why not use its full capacities ??? Moreover, I can GUARANTY
you that since this feature has been "fixed"...I'm much less productive.
At least, maximize/minimize is mandatory. That was an awsome feature
that I loved in 12.10
