I can confirm this. Wireless stopped working after latest update. Searched for ath5k and it is not present in the new kernel. Tried ath_pci and ath9k in case they had been extended to work with all chipsets but did not work. I presume this is some oversight. This is a showstopper bug for many.

Adding vga=792 to my kernel stops the panic and I get the splash. Unfortunately at the end of the boot when loading kdm it stuck but I believe this has more to do with the fglrx driver that I am trying to get configured. Strangely when I leave splash off and do not set vga X starts fine. I will ha
