While I commend the dedication to fixing it, don't prod along on my
account - I just kept trying successively newer versions of Ubuntu as
they came out, and got more powerful hardware as well... and the

I've never gotten this to work out of the box. I did get it to work
after a few months of fiddling, but I can't remember what I did and then
I had to reinstall Karmic due to other issues and now I have no sound
again.

ALC1200 incorrectly identified and improperly set
I am not able to use Ubuntu right now because my keyboard shorted out a
resistor on my motherboard. So until I can get the motherboard fixed, I will
not be able to check out the fix for this bug I reported. But I will keep it
in mind and check it out as soon as I can get my motherboard fixed.
