it seems after upgrading girl.2-glib-2.0 or reinstalling desktopcouch
(don't really know which one solved it) the problem got solved.

I just wonder as I'm using the 11.04 why the system didn't upgrade

seems there are some older packages installed. Following packages have
to be upgraded. Afterwards check whether the problem persists.
gir1.2-glib-2.0, libdb4.8, libdbus-1-3, libgirepository-1.0-1,
libgmp3c2, libgm
If the package xserver-xorg-video-nouveau is installed, in several cases
the 10.04 to 10.10 upgrade fails with the error message
uninstalling xserver-xorg-video-nouveau indeed did resolve my problem.
I'm answering here because it seems the bug I sent was a duplicate.
