Public bug reported:
I know it says "grub" in the title. But I do not believe it is the grub
package per se, I believe it is the script / program that controls the
entire installation process, because grub can be installed manually.

My recollection is getting a little fuzzy at this point as there have
been so many install attempts on this hardware, but if I recall
correctly, my first attempt was onto a single SCSI drive (the same Mylex
controller), and I let the installer do the default partitioning ( /

Ah, yes, let me clarify: when I ran the alternate install, I got the red
window. When I ran the install from the live CD, I never received any
sort of error, no indication anything was wrong, I just had an

(since I pursued the install to viability), I can verify that the grub
package was _not_installed.
Perhaps my hardware is just too unusual...

I have had grub fail to install with Intrepid on multiple different
install attempts. The installation from the Live CD fails to give an
error message at all. The installation from the alternate install states
that the grub installation has failed. (LILO fails as well.)

It also happens with the newest feisty Evolution (as of
4/14/2007...2.10.1) and a Palm as old as a Handspring Platinum. So, it
has nothing to do with the newer structure of the Palm databases in the
Tungstens and Treos. All I did was add a due date to my undated ToDos,
and it worked fine.
