I have the same problem.
Running Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty) with the "ubuntu-classic" desktop (gnome) and the
nouveau driver.
I also installed the xserver-xorg-video-nouveau
(1:0.0.16+git20110323.8378443b-0ubuntu0sarvatt) from the x-edgers ppa but the
Screen still crashes (Image is frozen but cursor
i just found out a workaround:
run 'gnome-panel --replace' and the icons display nice again (for me this is
the skype and opera icon)
i found this out because there is another bug which affects me:

could this bug be related to this

Michael: my "browser.urlbar.clickSelectsAll" is set to false, never
changed it to true and the same thing happens: after the screensaver
