whats going on here is a difference between the monotonic time reported
by /proc/uptime and the hwclock which does a few of the other numbers
(not sure specifics) . I think this all just means your monotonic (cpu-
based) clock is running alittle fast compared to the RTC (battery-
powered clock). W

not really sure whats going on, but I found 30GB of logs in kern.log
messages and syslog, computer was reset before this from sluggish
performance, and problem has no reoccured. I've truncated the files, but
compressed parts of the start of the thrashing is still on my disk, i
alternate workaround to #14:

WOW, each time I upgrade Ubuntu the sound system gets worse. Pulseaudio
cant handle all the hardware ALSA can, such as 24-bit emu10k1 cards,
which are quite common. In Fedora it works out of the box...
