Same problem here with HP LaserJet 4350 (I know it's a different printer but
this is the most related post I've found and it solved my problem).
I've edited the ppd and changed:
*DefaultHPOption_Duplexer: False
into
*DefaultHPOption_Duplexer: True

In the meanwhile I've changed my laptop so I'm afraid I won't be of much
help on this. I imagine this kind of bugs are pretty complex to spot but
unfortunately push people moving to different OS's, at least for laptops
(I've moved to OS X myself, even if I'm still fully-Ubuntu on the
desktop). This
I've downgraded to the previous firmware and it's working so far (for
about 3-4 days in a row). Here is a short howto:
1) download the previous firmware version from
http://intellinuxwireless.org/iwlwifi/downloads/iwlwifi-4965-ucode-228.57.2.23.tgz
2) rename your actual firmware /lib/firmware/iwl
I confirm it happens on a WPA PSK encrypted network. It's pretty
frequent, in fact :(

I've got a Matrox MGA G550 and I've experienced various kinds of X
crashes after upgrading to edgy. I've tried all the solutions proposed
above and here is the combination that works for me:
- No framebuffer enabled in xorg.conf and no special kernal module
loaded (I'm using standard edgy kernel)
Ok, I found out how to rebuild the initrd, I can confirm this fixes the
bug for me.

Do I need to rebuild the initrd for this?
If so, how do I do it?
I did patch that script, but boot still took a long time so I assume
there is another step.

It should be noted that I also have a card reader, as in bug #6 but
I unplugged it, and disabled USB boot in BIOS the problem remained.

Hiya,
The clients do not work with the free version of java, this was the root
cause.
I am not sure which status fits this bug report, probably invalid but
I'll let Andrew choose.
