Binary package hint: nautilus
Running 2D version. Everything is fine until some process calls nautilus
at which point nautilus takes over the desktop, i.e just desktop
background + desktop icons show, the vertical tabs with the program
groups (e.g. Favourites, Internet etc.)

Have a look at http://alsa.opensrc.org/index.php/ALSA_PCM_proc_commands
as a workaround.
e.g # echo "nexiuz 0 0 direct " > /proc/asound/card0/pcm0p/oss

Binary package hint: pulseaudio
Tried getting sound to work, but no joy. MIxer levels correct. In the
end used virtual sledgehammer and purged pulseaudio which resolved
problem. Sound now works as expected.
