Seems to me, then, that the answer is to put the Debian unstable package
in the Kubuntu repository and simply rename it.
That may not satisfy the Kubuntu developers, but it would result in a
Knights program that is current and doesn't crash.

encounters a castle move (invoked by moving the king two squares toward
the rook).
