Thanks for your help! I tested the most recent kernel:
3.18.1-031801-generic
In this kernel the touchpad keeps working after a suspend. Do you need
me to test this on a lower kernel as well?
I changed this to confirmed and added the tags.

I found a possible solution to this bug. It has something to do with the
auto login function in the user management from Unity. When activated it
cannot shutdown anymore. Also disable the auto login is not possible
anymore.
What I did:
$sudo gedit /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf
remove the line:

Found a solution:
Change the GTK appearance in the system configuration (appearance of a
program) to an other than oxygen-gtk. I use Raleigh and it works fine!

I also have this problem. I use a AR9285 wlan card in a ASUS laptop. The
router I use is a FritzBox 7170.
I also have trouble with a loss of connection, this happens randomly. Sometimes
a lot, sometimes for a few hours there is a stable connection.
I use Natty 2.6.38-6 on Kubuntu.

it yet. After booting I get a blanc screen and the computer freezes. I have a
x1300 ati card in a acer aspire 5600.
