Thanks to bkrzem that posted a solution on a duplicate of this bug

Well, actually I've been struggling with this issue for a week! But in
my case the problem seems to be that nmbd is called to be started up
BEFORE the net device is actually on... so the solution in my case was
to change

Hi Kibuntu!
It works! Of course you have to set the cd device correctly ("cdrom1"
instead of the default "cdrom" in my case) but it definitely works now!
So I think this confirm the fact that it was a Tellico bug/problem, and
not a Ubuntu one

Same problem here in the definitive release BUT please note that is not
that the microphone doesn't work... simply the volume is too low! To
understand it I simply plugged in my mp3 player, that is amplifies, of
course, and the output level is much higher than a passive microphone...
What can I do
uhm... it happens even without jack...

same problem... more than this Audacious can't play audio cd as before.
The problem appeared after upgrading from 8.04 to 9.04. With The
Intrepid Ibex I can't import cds with Tellico and can'0t use the
audacious CD plugin...
Even worse... I use ubuntustudio and the real time kernel is really
insta
uh... and I confirm that the CPU seems to work much more with the rt
kernel than with the normal one.
Only for your info, i installed the std kernel only using apt-get
