I am seeing a very similar bug on my UEC after updating from
1.6.2ubuntu29 to 1.6.2ubuntu30, however the internal error returned by
libvirt is different. All types of my instances fail to start since the
update. See attached files for details on which packages were updated
and a NC log excerpt show

I was able to reproduce this bug on the latest 10.04 packages -->
eucalyptus (all of them) @ 1.6.2-0ubuntu14 and vblade @ 20-1ubuntu1.
This host has not been running as an SC ever before, so this can be
treated as a clean install I guess.

Do you really think I would go as far as logging a bug report if I haven't
checked the basics first? C'mon.
Yes, all inputs/outputs were unmuted and non-zero. I have also tried all the
Dell-related "model" options for snd-hda-intel and none made a difference
What's weird with this issue is that
Just to clarify - "breaks" in this case means: modules load fine, audio
apps work fine, but there is no sound output in the speakers.

After an inline upgrade from Ubuntu 8.04.1 x86 to Ubuntu 9.04 x86 sound stops
working on a Dell Precision 390.
Hardware details attached.
I was able to narrow the problem down to alsa.conf as installed by libasound2.
When I copy that file from the Live CD of 8.04.1 to the 9.
