I can confirm that i also have this problem under karmic. kubuntu-
desktop install under ubuntu seems to cause more problems than good.
The suggestion in log #19 seems to have fixed it for now. I'm not 100%
happy with the situation.
I'm considering a full fresh reinstall of ubuntu but if there's

I'm running 9.04 with encrypted HDD (it's a corporate laptop so needs to
be). I need to run VM quite often and this issue is causing me lots of
pain. Especially when copying / moving large files (2+ GB)
Renice tip above seems to cure some of the performance issue (i.e. CPU
usage goes back to norma
Just tried running "System Testing" from latest update (updated 20 mins
ago) and got error. Looks the same as above

Running Ubuntu 9.04 under VirtualBox with NO guest additions. I assume
this is a VirtualBox driver issue but didn't have this problem with 8.10
so you never know
