thanks for the info. Actually I am on Kubuntu 20.04 with kernel 5.11.8
but I'll test your drivers on Hirsute in a month as soon as it becomes
available.
Just for info there is already a patch for kernel 5.12.

As ALWAYS happened in the past, EVERY TWO MONTHS new patches are needed

Same for me.
Seems something related to Chrome or Chromium.
The bug was also present in older versions of the driver.
Sometimes garbage disappers closing Chrome/Chromium and reopening soon after.

Thanks to him we can continue to use our old but still good graphic card
with latest 5.10.x LTS kernels also in Groovy:

...and Debian is the winner! And the first obviously!
Tested on Sparkylinux (Debian testing) with nvidia-graphics-drivers-
legacy-340xx (340.108-10) unstable.
System seems working good at the moment.

Yes janitor, you are right... but in kubuntu 14.04, which should be "Long Term
Support", gtk2-engines-oxygen is still 1.4.5-0ubuntu1.

On my original system where I found this bug, the behaviour was still
consistent with Vimium.
However, I did recenty a fresh install of Lubuntu 13.10 and update to
latest version of Chromium in the repos, and installed Vimium and on
that machine (with a cheaper CPU) I do not have any high CPU usag
Vimium causes high cpu usage on any page with this Chromium version. I
have disabled it now. The issue is fully reproducible for me. I even
looked at the js profier - some functions are consuming around 25% CPU.

I have no sound in my system. When I connect headphones to the headphone
jack, I get sound (thru headphones). But I want sound through the
speakers (inbuilt in moniter - HP2228h) connected by a hdmi cable. Works
well under Windows. So no hardware problems.
