Upon examining it further the two profiles are both loading all
bookmarks into couchdb correctly under the same couchdb username. Still
no sync though.

I have the same problem and followed your instructions with no success.
Couchdb is definitely uploading as two of my firefox's are running as a
non-default profile in compiz which show's up as an entry in futon view.
However, neither my PC nor my netbook are syncing in anyway.
Unfortunately
In my case firefox (with libmoon) crashed upon upgrading to Lucid.
Removing libmoon fixed it.

I'm new to the bug reporting process, but would really like to help. I
believe I have isolated some problems in the report as being unrelated to
the crash.

Bug is still there. ATA bus problem was contributing to desktop instability.
Bug testing revealed a fairly specific processes to create a bug (I'm still
working on recreating the afore mentioned symptoms):
-When I open a nautilus browser the mouse wheel serves to scroll up and down.
-As soon as I
The ATA bus error was corrected from the original dmesg. It was a bad
connection and may have contributed to a number of issues including a
bad ubuntu-desktop install.
I reinstalled ubuntu-desktop: waiting for results.

It appears this is a hardware issue. Both KDE and Xfce desktop had
issues as well. I've done a clean install of ubuntu-desktop 9.10 and it
still has problems.
