Here is one trigger: toggling between full screen/standard display. I
closed the toolbar, entered full screen (triggered the event via the
keyboard combination), then returned to standard view -- toolbar was
back.

It doesn't happen to me on my MacPro Ubuntu installation, but it happens
on the Acer Netbook. I really can't tell you how to trigger it,
unfortunately, since I can't detect the pattern. I will keep watching
it and, if I detect a trigger, let you know what UI activity causes it.

the standard toolbar returns after being closed -- unsure what's causing
in to return -- seems to happen when i switch between applications --
this has occurred several times now.

be resolved passing the option nolapic to the kernel.
