I've got the same laptop than you (Lenovo 3000 N100 0768-FGG) and I'm using
same linux kernel (2.6.20-16-generic).
I've got sound with my laptop. I mean:
- sound is fine without noise
- sound is loud (same as with windows vista)
- internal speaker aren't switched off when I plug in he

I've got same issue on my lenovo 3000 n100.
I've tried alsa patch without success and tried all what ubuntu's wiki
explained.
I don't want to turn off acpi.
