i really don't need inbuilt chat and email notifications. but if you
remove the envelope icon, battery, bluetooth and volume are also gone.
there is a separate icon for volume but it is buggy. it shows up in a
different background color and the icon does not match the theme.

yes. i installed ubuntu using wubi from inside win xp. i have set the
download directory as /host/downloads. the xp partition is ntfs. is this
