getting this driver to do SPDIF/IN to 5.1 surround out would be awesome.
I'm using the soundcard as a driver for a cheap analog 5.1 speaker set
on a ZOTAC box with Ubuntu 11.10 on it, and being able to decode XBOX
and BluRay surround sound would save me another €80 for a conversion
device.

Attached is the requested set of log files. The computer has already
been running for a while - I plugged the iMac in twice .
The monitor tools recognizes the external monitor and shows it in the
layout pane, but then reverts back to a single screen layout and the
iMac turns off remote mode again.
I noticed that my problem may not fit this bugs description, so I filed
a separate bug #790126 for it.

Chauncellor: I tried the daily build available today from the link you
posted, and indeed, success - it no longer freezes at boot, but boots
right into X - unfortunately that's where it ends right now, because
things are crashing and installation is impossible (it's a daily ocelot,
after all), but
I should add that my system info says "SMC Version (system): 1.68f96"
and the Boot ROM is "MBP81.0047.B04", but this morning I got a hardware
update for EFI 2.1 - so, not sure if SMC and EFI are related at all.

None of the isos, including the amd64+mac iso, boot on my new Macbook
(8,1). I can't install Ubuntu or try the live CD.
When booting the CD, I get the "ISOLINUX" version line, and then it
freezes forever. Please make this go away, I don't want to use OSX ;)

environment variable works for me :) - But please fix this, it's

That's it. There has indeed been a lot of activity with the session
monitor, which seems to be drive related - there has been an audio CD in
the drive.
When I removed the CD (and put it back in!), the issue went away. I
couldn't reproduce the bug again. The CD has to

when trying to burn a CD ISO, "wodim" reports that it couldn't raise
RLIMIT_MELOCK. i can burn as root, but i suppose that's not the best way
to do this.

can also reproduce the bug, happened 2 times, booted a different kernel
then. i have indeed an ipw and a kill switch - i suppose having the kill
switch disabled (lights on) will make the problem go away.

i applied the patch, rebuilt the source and installed it, but no change.
i restarted x, made sure both .fonts.conf and local.conf were set up
correctly and autohinting was disabled explicitly.

the autohinter significantly degrades the appearance of known fonts such
as tahoma, verdana, arial, etc. using bci is crucial for these fonts, as
they are barely recognizeable at lower point sizes.
besides, since a few weeks, autohinting seems to be enabled by default
in ubuntu 6. i don't know wha
