I tried changing the keyboard type to "pc105+presario". Now keycodes are
generated for all Fn+F(1-12) keys except for F4(alternate monitor),
F7(br. down) and F8(br. up). Incidentally all these three codes are
display related, so I think the problem lies in the way the nvidia
driver interprets them.

I'm running Xubuntu Feisty on my AMD Turion 64 laptop with an Nvidia
6150 graphics card. I cannot use the Fn key for any purpose, including
adjusting the brightness. somewhere on the net I found that one could do
this by "echo {reqd br. level} > /proc/acpi/video/*/LCD/brightness".
however i cannot
I have the same problem with my Compaq V3000 laptop running Xubuntu
feisty + nvidia Geforce 6150 onboard graphics. It's very distressing
because even the LCD brightness cannot be adjusted (i guess this has
been reported multiple times). Perhaps it's time for it to be fixed
asap.
