Who decided sideways was a good design decision?
I move the mouse up, click the icon, begin to move down and then have to
change to a sideways movement. In addition to volume intuitively going
up and down...

was quite noticable because the frequency rate and time it takes for a
key press to start repeating itself has been increased.
