Thanks to the instructions posted by @cjjefcoat I was able to get 116 up
and running on my machine. The only difference was that after purging
the toolchain ppa I had to run update-alternatives to get gcc to point
to gcc-5.

I purged the -116 packages and then re-installed them but it didn't
help. What's worse, is that now Unity doesn't work in -112, but

mention it my problems started shortly after enabling it. Disabling it
doesn't fix this issue, neither does uninstalling onboard. I do think

can only use command line on any tty[1-6] apart from tty7. When I switch

It looks like the update-manager is finding the word "sudo" in the
source list (at /etc/apt/sources.list) and choking on it (That's not
normally something it finds there).

Well, it says Totem, but the fact that it also occurs in VLC makes it

Shouldn't the value in the 'nice' column change as well?
A 'niceness' of -20 has the highest priority, but that doesn't make any
sense if you don't know what 'nice' means in Unix terms.
Maybe you could turn it into a percentage, with "nice -20" being "100%
priority", and "nice 19" being "0% prior

the first line. This causes a java NullPointerException on my machine
when running certain applications that send SMTP email.

FYI, passing the kernel boot param 'processor.max_cstate=2' will work ONLY if
you have the ACPI Processor compiled into the kernel (aka NOT as a module).
Recompiling the kernel with CONFIG_ACPI_PROCESSOR=y will allow you to set the
max_cstate upon boot.

I'm going to be compiling a custom kernel for TuxOnIce anyway. Does
anyone have any idea what kernel options I might try to get rid of the
