I rechecked this today and confirmed the bug still has not been fixed -
although, it has changed slightly.

Evo now gives an error message and does not allow the creation of
folders larger than 2GB.
Error Msg:

I found a workaround. I forced reinstallation of the previous version
and then reinstalled.
downgrade to old version:
sudo dpkg --force-all -i tftpd-hpa_0.43-1.1ubuntu1_i386.deb
reintall latest version (tftpd-hpa_0.48-1ubuntu1):
sudo apt-get install tftpd-hpa
After this, apt is working normal
I have the same problem. It occurred during an upgrade from gutsy to
hardy. I used the trick above "dpkg --configure -a" to complete the
upgrade, but I continue to have this error any time I do anything with
apt. I have found no way to remove this package or deselect it. Any
ideas?

I have the same problem every 6 months or so. This lame bug has been
around since at least 2005. Please fix it.
