I have ubuntu 12.10 and this problem still exitsformeaswell. I gave up
and decided to use cheese instead. works without any issues.

I'm installing or at least trying to install ubuntu 11.10 on my HP
probook 4430s. I put in a disk from Linux magazine that I have used
before and now for some reason I get an install error that my install
crashed. I never had this issue before so please someone out there help
My mic doesn't work either. I have a Dell inspiron 1420. I got the
camera and everything else working right. But the mic is still dead. I'm
running ubuntu 8.04. Is there nothing at all that will get this mic
running. Please some one has to have something.
