After following this ttps://help.ubuntu.com/community/AppleKeyboard to
get the functions working as expected on PC you might want to swap the
positions of Alt/Cmd keys, create an Insert key and do some other minor
modifications to make the layout more similar to PC keyboards.

Switching from kdm to kdm-kde4 fixed it for me.

Public bug reported:
With the KDE 4 Hardy Alpha I cannot log out of a KDE 4 session. The
screen goes black but KDM never shows up again. Next, either the machine
reboots by itself or has to be hard rebooted, because neither
Ctrl+Alt+Backspace nor Ctrl+Alt+F# will do anything. Seemingly the

I don't know about everybody else, but for me launching knetworkmanager from

Whoops, libdvdcss wasn't installed. Would be nice if k9copy gave a
descriptive error message in this case instead of just going down in
flames, but that's admittedly not Kubuntu's problem.

k9copy crashes on DVD
Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: k9copy
k9copy crashes with SIGSEGV 11 when
- clicking the "open" button
- choosing "copy with k9copy" from media services menu after inserting a DVD.

Possible workaround:
1) install network-manager-gnome (if you haven't already)

4) close nm-applet and restart knetworkmanager
If you don't have the VPN connection showing up in knetworkmanager by

The problem persists. You're about to release a Kubuntu with no way to
graphically configure access to a VPN network based on the protocol
(sadly) still used in most commercial environments. Any word from above?
Package info see post before this. Using Gutsy 32 bit nightly build from

I confirm this bug for Feisty.
Why exactly is the importance undecided? This is extremely annoying for
anyone who wants to use Kubuntu on a shared work/home notebook. If the
OS is to gain importance not only on private desktops the importance of
this bug shouldn't be too hard to decide on...

I can confirm this bug for Kubuntu Feisty.
And yes, this is fixed outside of *buntu... it's yet another *buntu-only
bug now.

How exactly can the importance of this bug be still "undecided"? After
all it renders this great tool completely useless for a large number of
possible applications...
