I have the same problems as explained above. No USB device works unless
it is plugged in before the computer boots. Devices tested are, memory
sticks (Kingston, JetFlash) DVB-T stick Pinnacle, USB harddrives
(Western Digital), Mouse.
I am running a clean install of maverick on an Acer Aspire 1520
Had the same problems with the version of pdfmod above.
Installing version 0.9.0 put an end to all the misbehaviour.

Everytime I try to install anything, the dpkg exits with a number of
error messages pertaining to libbabl. Despite the errors, installations
seem to work.
