Still the problem exist in Jaunty as of May 20, 2009. Cannot login
inside corporate lan (global proxy is set). Works fine on open network.

I can confirm this bug in Jaunty beta release (with all updates as of
Apr 14). Evolution is a bloat which doesn't work at all and ubuntu keeps
shipping it as the main email app for masses !
