not the init.d command I said earlier.
I then install nfs-common:
m...@wolfman:~$ sudo apt-get inst
Sorry, already ran. Seemed to work. Here is current output:

root 29968 0.0 0.0 2300 180 ?Ss Jan28 0:00 rpc.idmapd

used service to stop ldmapd and then tried installing and looks like it's
worked.
sudo service ldmapd stop
sudo apt-get install nfs-common
nfs-kernel also succeeded this time. Both had failed previously
