I'm having this same problem using the fully updated alpha Ubuntu 9.04 -
the Jaunty Jackalope. I'm printing to a print server. I can print a test
page, printing from other applications pop up the "can't promp for
authorization" message. Following mannheim's post and editing
/etc/cups/printers.conf.
im using ubuntu 8.04 as well and was having a problem only with my
google bookmarks in toolbar. disabling ubuntu customization plug-in or
disabling other add-ons didnt work. i solved my problem by typing
following commands in the terminal :
sudo apt-get install libxul-dev libstdc++5 gcc-4.1 libst
