Ugh, apparently feature-request is the same as opinion. If you reset per
those guidelines I won't revert the status again.
This bug is one of many bugs filed during the lens debacle of 2012. Most
of those bugs have been variously ignored, mischaracterized, and abused
as Canonical ignored community

This is the third time that folks have fiddled with the metadata on this
ticket. I can only assume this is an effort to get old tickets from the

I confirm this bug is still present in 13.04. Steps to reproduce:
1) Edit ~/.clusterssh/config to add a cluster

parameter in the hostname1.lan ssh comman

Does this proposed fix prevent *display* of results, or *sending* of
queries to the productsearch servers? The latter is clearly what's
desired by the community.
Additionally, the proposed design in comment #27 is misleading. This
setting doesn't guarantee that all online results will be omitted
Previous comment should read that it's a proposal not to ship in 12.10,
not in 12.04 where it didn't ship.

This bug isn't an opinion, it's a proposal for a specific technical
change (to not ship unity-lens-shopping in 12.04). That proposal is
supported by many facts:
1) It's a contentious feature, evidenced by the many "hot" bugs filed.
2) It's proposed for a default-on state in a widely used component
This isn't a dupe of Bug #1054741, which addresses the privacy policy
update. This is about bad ui that establishes an expectation of the
kind of privacy one has in a "home", but then sends search queries to
the world. The UI needs to make clear delineation between those 2
contexts.

The bug is a proposal for a specific technical change (to have shopping-

I understand that shopping lens was added post freeze, although I'm not

feature, it shouldn't be installed by default in 12.10.
