Sadly, I missed the first anniversary of this "high importance" bug
(yes, I submitted it over a year ago).
But, I'm still there on Kubuntu Dapper Drake Long Time Support with all
current updates, and the bug is still there too.
I haven't given up on Kubuntu yet and would really like to see some

Paul, thanks for diving into this issue. My $LANG is:

although I'm not sure, why this is relevant here.

Ubuntu Dapper: missing dependancy to qtconfig or properly setup /etc/qt.rc

'qtconfig' is available in the 'qt3-qtconfig' package, which is in universe.
What functionality is in this program, is it for customisation?
Yes, but there is more to it than simple customisation, then without
qt3-qtconfig and the lack of a proper /etc/qt.rc (as pointed by Peter

Looong Time Support seems to mean here something different as widely

BTW, importance should be "urgent", not "medium", since *buntu targets
newbies, who usually cannot manage users and groups without a GUI. IMHO,
it should't take 7 months to deliver a working fix to such a
"Priority: Medium. The project developers will definitely get to this
feature, but perhaps not in the next major release or two."
Considering the sheer amount of fonts delivered with Ubuntu, a font
management GUI is a plain necessity, thus the priority should be not
"medium", but "urgent".

I solved the problem by removing scim and skim packages from my Kubuntu 6.0.6.1
installation.
I don't have scim installed, only scim_qtimm and skim. Removing
scim_qtimm solves the problem in my case, but this is a really dirty
workaround, since kubuntu-desktop depends on scim_qtimm and will be
echo "export LC_ALL=pl_PL" >> ~/.bash_profile
or
echo "export LC_ALL=de_DE" >> ~/.bash_profile
or
LC_ALL=whatever_your_language_is
solves the problem. Any thoughts, Ubuntu devs?
