I have managed to resolve the issue by using the following commands:
sudo -i
dpkg --purge --force-depends grub-pc
apt-get install -f
apt-get clean
apt-get -d install grub-pc
dpkg --force-overwrite --install grub-pc (this command didn't work, but i was
able to install grub-pc via the Soft

Hi Fabio,
Still no luck.
Same error presents when trying to install/uninstall these and any other
software via the 'Software Centre'. The software components appear to go
through ok as they appear on the installed list ok.
