Using Alternate Install CD the installer appears to hang at 85%.
The alt-F4 terminal shows the installer is trying to download package
lists. The installer does this even when I tell it to configure the
network at a later time. Clearly t
I can confirm this problem for the standard Ubuntu alternate install
disk as well.
The problem is that that installer pauses at 85% throught to download
packages. Since my network connection to my router was active (but not
to the outside internet) the installer did not know that it cannot find

I also experienced the DistUpgradeViewGtk problem and solved it by
installing python-vte. I was only able to figure this out because I
debug Python code at work.
I'd think python-vte should be made a dependency of update-manager -
that would solve this problem straightforwardly unless people ever
