Interestingly this seems to only be an issue with virtualbox 4.3.26
r98998 from virtualbox.org.
This issue does _NOT_ seem to be present in the exact same "version"
that is provided by the ubuntu repositories.

I have been having a similar problem for a while now, very randomly. I
am not sure if its the same as described by others.
I cannot reproduce it at will(It seems to happen when moving between
windows, especially gnome-terminal, eclipse and guake), but every now

I helped Hasdai file this bug, it probably has something to with the Graphics
Environment.
Can't be more specific on the package, we found no explicit errors pointing at
Xorg, but when this happens everything freeze, the screen stays up and both
mouse and keyboard freeze.

Still have the issue, on a Thinkpad T61p with an Nvidia Quadro FX 570M
same as evan, sometimes(very rarely) it shuts down fine but most of the
time it hangs, It seems like the shutdown sequence stops after killing X
. If it works, my GUI shuts down I get some output on what is being
