Cool. So, the exact steps are: edit /etc/apt/sources.list, change 'hardy' to 'gutsy' everywhere With what commands to I downgrade xserver-xorg-*? How do I "pin" it? sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-* --pin? Then, I edit /etc/apt/sources.list and go from 'gutsy' back to 'hardy' -- lockup on

a. This never happens because of display power management. In fact, this only ever happens in the midst of my using the computer, never while I'm away. It also does not happen after a set time, as you would expect if it were display power management. b. I am using GNOME, not KDE. -- lockup
