Sorry everyone - my suggestion to add "+extension XInputExtension" was
WRONG. It doesn't solve the issue at all. I was fooled into thinking it
did because subsequent connections 'seemed' to show the correct theme
indefinitely, but after a while gnome-settings-daemon failed again.
